FAQ

Why not publishing on Google blogs?

I am continuing publishing on Google blogs as I’ve been doing in the past. However I wanted to put a little bit of my personal touch into my posts, which is not always possible if you write for a large organization. Please keep in mind corporate communication usually requires a number of people to contribute time and effort. While blogging here, I can respond to webmasters’ question in a more timely manner and most importantly address issues which might go under the radar otherwise.

Why not blogging in your native languages?

I’d love to blog on a regular basis also in other languages and I might do it a some point but for the time being I do not have the bandwidth. Since English is the most common language, it is naturally the first choice. However, I will continue to address market specific issues blogging on Google’s Polish Blog as well as on Google’s German Webmaster Blog.

Why isn’t your blog better optimized for search engines?

Same reason as before — too little time. I focus on the content of the website, which in my opinion is more crucial. This is also a recommendation I have for every webmaster with limited resources.

Why this particular domain?

I was looking for a short, memorable domain that makes sense to webmasters internationally. When I found seozen.com being parked I did not hesitate.

I have just one Google question; can I drop you a line?

There are dedicated Google communication channels for any kind of escalations. Please utilize them.

How can I get a job at Google, too?

Please have a look at the Google jobs site.

Who do you follow on the web?

There are a lot great sources for English speaking webmasters. Among others I try to check on Matt’s, Fili’s, Barry’s and Joost’s tweets/posts on a regular basis. These guys are among industries’ heavy weights but there other great people, too. Personally, I think SEOmoz is another interesting source. While I might not always agree with their messages, I do personally find them interesting to read. Just keep in mind that there are plenty more sources out there. Do not limit yourself.
